Просмотров 1012 месяца назад
Meyer Ranch Park used to be Mt lugo ski area back in 1940 to 1942 according to the Colorado ski history. Mount Lugo opened in 1940 with a single rope tow with that used a motor from a vehicle. The area offered 150 feet of vertical over 173 skiable acres of terrain. Guests were carried from the road to the base of the tow using a horse drawn sled. Unfortunately, the ski area was a victim to gas ...

Wow, that's an epic climb!
Modifies it here? Mind if I sit here? Sure. Modify record you Mind if I record you a little bit? Sure
The sheep will worship 🐑
only worship God
Sheesh not only is it a knife edge but any one of those rocks look like it could just fall apart with any movement. Definitely a no from me dawg.
but means there are 34 individuals still in better condition, who are they....
this was not too long after his knee surgery and this is one of the toughest 100 milers in the US just to finish it is a huge achievement
@@Theninjaonthemountains never tought this was easy or a chill route. If you do a competition 23hours this is insane, but still wondering that there is more than one david goggins out there, the achivment is insane to be able to put yourself through it.
@TheGammacron absolutely, most of this guys are all superskinny ultrarunners, that running is all they do. I would say david was probably top 3 for the heavier more muscular guys
Great video! I'm not worthy. At one point you said "Things are going to get spicy." Spicy is not the word I would have used. :)
I wosh i could meet david goggins in person.
Did it with a friend in '78 when we had the entire mountain to ourselves. Underestimated how rough the road in was, didn't get started until 11:30 AM. Got to the summit, narrowly avoiding a rockslide, with the sun low on the horizon. We were on a sketchy, grassy traverse above timberline, skirting underneath K2 right at dusk when it started to snow, hard - in August. My friend said he couldn't go on, and I got rather cross with him. We got back way after dark, hiking back to the car by flashlight.
wow!!! those were the days, with very little information about the mountain, no videos and no go's cell phones
That was beautiful but really scary. How do you not look down? I'll pass but good for you.
Wow
he clearly doesnt give a fuck about all these npcs trying to be nice.
Intro is frustrating and annoying, but good video. Very scary! Glad you’re safe.
If i know what to do hell i doit
About to do this exact route in 2 days, very excited! Thank you for the video
is a long day, but is a beautiful place. enjoy!
If yall only knew how fucked up his legs are bro, and he still does shit like this
K-razy
And just like that my dad life self realizes I probably won’t and definitely shouldn’t ever get to check off all the 14ers in Colorado
I am a Dad of 3, and this was a tough decision to make, I remember watching videos of it and thinking the same, but I kept chipping away at the easier ones. Once I started doing the class 3 ones, I signed up to rock climbing gym and trained for months. I got pretty good at it and developed more confidence and safety techniques. Is really not that bad if you know what you are doing
Aloha Braddah!! Yaaa hahaha you is one Hammah. I am looking to do this trail before I ship out for military basic training as I’m in good tip top shape but I have nobody that wants to do it with me. I just prefer to go with somebody but I see you went all alone haha. You are awesome and blessed. Thank you for the awesome video and info. Aloha and god bless 🤙🏾 🙏
Dude's got a death wish
I will continue to admire 14er's from the comfort of my backyard with a refreshing adult beverage in my hand.
I do enjoy a few cold beers after each 14er best reward
It wasn't snowing when I ran it! Impressive!!
Looks like you’re ready for the Hillary Step! Great video!
I love what modern camera tech can share with us. I'm not very religious, but God was like, lets mountain this right here. That's impressive rock shooting out of the ground in that specific location.
Capitol was slow and arduous, but not the most difficult IMHO. I think Wilson was more difficult.
I did the wilson group in one hike, it was long and sketchy, but only because we didn't the el diente to wilson traverse
No trail runners….???…just kiddin’
Tried a couple climbing ascents but had to back off both times. The standard route was definitely fun too!
it sucks to make that decision to turn around. I hope you get it in your third try!
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing. That rock is unbelievably shattered and loose.
I did that route about 30 years ago. That knife edge was freaky!
Some people have no fear- how do you trust rocks?
that rock is more stable than it seems, however the trip to scrambling is always have 3 to 4 points of contact in case one gives away
This guy is an inspiration. Started running becaus of him
Nice video, Capital is definitely among my favorites I’ve been up it three times. It’s definitely not an easy peak, but for technical difficulty I’d say Pyramid. As far as approach the Chicago Basin peaks from Molas pass is more demanding.
I have never seen the route of Chicago basin from molas pass, but I will look it up. I did chicago basin as one day trip from purgatory
Why are my hands sweating while watching this hike?
The sound of your nose running is gross
I'm impressed by how fast you were moving. I've climbed Capitol. It was a great day.
Thank you, I am an ultra runner and most times I try to run 14ers as fast as possible. this one in particular I was moving fast on the aproach, but once I got to K2, I was more focused on not falling and was thinking every step
Awesome photography. I couldn't believe some of the spots where you were actually standing up an walking.
thanks for watching
Respect. That is a challenging day out.
Beautiful place. That knife edge section indeed looks gnarly, but safe, if done the way you did it. Does anyone know what this kind of rock mountain is called?
is mostly granite rock
@@Theninjaonthemountains I wasn’t looking for the specific rock classification, but there is a name for a mountain that is composed of majority rock like this and for the freakin life of me, I can’t remember it. Don’t grow old man. Just stop aging now! It sucks forgetting so damn much, and having to wear glasses, and…😉
scrambling, technical or alpine mountain climbing maybe. I made this youtube channel in fear I will loose my memory one day like my 4 grandparents and now my dad have.
Looks scary in perfect weather. Could only imagine how sketch it is with wet rocks or snow. Every single rocks look like they’ll give way at some point. Just hope you don’t have your full weight on them when they do.
it appears that way but most of those rocks are solid so exposed that anything loose would have fallen out, never the less always test every rock and have 3 other points of contact in case one gives away
Yeah…. NO THANKS
Everyone dies. Not everyone really lives.
amazing the completely silly and utterly meaningless things ego will compel some to do LOL
Did all 3 but on different days. Did Wilson Jr and Sr from Rock of Ages. Diente from Kilpacker. Nice work!
thanks, you too! those mountains are no joke
Amazing video!! I have been watching a guy do the 7 highest peaks with a similar film style and this was more intense to watch. My legs were shaking just watching. Thanks for taking me along on the ride.
thank you!
Unless you come with a fun way to descend off that mountain I will never understand the joy of climbing all that way up.
it depends what you call fun, I have a few friends that call the knife edge fun but hate the run up to it. I have other friends who would enjoy the run up to the knife, but would never do that exposed section. To me it was one of the best days of my life once you overcome fear and do it the adrenaline and accomplishment felt amazing.
@@Theninjaonthemountains Thanks for the response!
Plenty of FUN WAYS to descend...all of them deadly
Awesome climb; thanks for taking us along. Mindbending on that upper knife edge.
thanks for watching, that knife edge made me spend many hours at the rock climbing gym just to feel confident the day I did it.
@@Theninjaonthemountains Wise preparation for a really intense looking climb. Fun to watch from my livingroom 😎. Thanks again for a great video.
Good lord, this man climbed Capitol with one hand holding a camera!!!
Invisible selfie stick
Was gonna do little Italy soon…how long do you think conditions will be good for? Never done it so just been wondering.
not sure, this year, it filled in pretty good, but once summer starts, it melts quick
@@Theninjaonthemountains yeh it’s high 40s this week and goes to high 30s next week I think. Gonna try in 2 weeks but if mtns aren’t the best oh well worth the view still
Oh man. Traversing that ridge has to be MURDER on your knees😅 it hurts just watching this
Thanks for documenting, was debating whether or not to take my 2WD car up.
I believe the road has gotten a bit worse since I shot this video, but that day I went, there were several 2wd
@@Theninjaonthemountains I figured it has seen some wear and tear since the video but still was helpful!
My cousin John Harden was on ski patrol as well. He has a degree in explosives and would do avalanche control as needed. Lots of great memories on this mountain!
Best videowork of Capitol, period!
thank you!
